Forest Protection Survey Program, VicForests

Client: Victorian Government   •   Date: 2021 - 2024

As part of the Forest Protection Survey Program in Victoria, GEM was engaged by VicForests to undertake surveys to identify conservation values in forests scheduled for harvest. These surveys included determining presence and abundance for threatened avian, mammalian, reptilian, amphibious and various flora species including presence of habitat and any signs of use. These surveys ranged from very targeted nocturnal or diurnal surveys designed to detect specific species to general surveys designed to detect the possible presence of significant species that would inform further survey work. Surveys were undertaken from the East Gippsland area to Mount Stirling and across to the gold fields region.
